Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong’s milestone edition sees growth in overseas buyer attendance
Industry’s biggest B2B fine jewellery sourcing event draws 50,000+ visitors from 140+ countries and regions
The Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW) recently concluded its milestone edition, reporting a significant increase in international buyer turnout. Organized by Informa Markets Jewellery, the event featured an unprecedented pearl exhibit, a panel series with iconic luxury pearl jewellery brands, and a celebration of the Sustainability Awards champions.
Held from September 16 to 20 at the AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) and from September 18 to 22 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), this “One Fair, Two Venues” B2B event showcased over 3,300 exhibitors from more than 40 countries. The exhibition featured major players in diamonds, coloured gemstones, and pearls, along with luxury jewellery ateliers and leading equipment, tools, and packaging suppliers.
The fair attracted 50,232 unique buyers representing 142 countries and regions, marking a rise in visitor attendance from South America (+19.9%), the Middle East (+18.3%), North America (+7.5%), and Europe (+4.7%). However, a slight decline in turnout from Mainland China was noted, attributed to the Mid-Autumn Festival and a tropical cyclone impacting Shanghai on the event’s opening day.
International buyers accounted for 67.85% of total attendance, solidifying JGW’s status as the leading global destination for sourcing jewellery, gemstones, and related products. Celine Lau, Director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets Jewellery, commented on the resilience of the jewellery community amidst ongoing economic uncertainties.
“Despite macroeconomic challenges, firm order-taking was underway on the show floor. Buyers were cautious but focused on inventory that could sell quickly. Suppliers are expanding their customer bases and emphasizing long-term planning,” Lau stated. “JGW is the definitive global destination for the jewellery industry, offering an unparalleled platform for professionals to connect, learn, and be inspired.”
Looking ahead, the 2025 edition of JGW is scheduled for September 15 to 19 at the AWE and September 17 to 21 at the HKCEC.
In conjunction with JGW, the SEASONS | Autumn Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Fair saw significant attendance, attracting over 12,000 buyers—a 10.8% increase from the previous edition. Recognized as Asia’s premier destination for sourcing fashion-forward collections, this fair highlighted the rising interest from international attendees, particularly from the Middle East (+63.8%), South America (+39.3%), North America (+37.4%), Europe (+17.4%), and Asia (+7.2%).
The next edition of SEASONS | Autumn is set to take place from September 17 to 21, 2025, at the HKCEC, promising to continue its legacy of innovation and vibrancy in the jewellery and accessories sector.
