Surat, Gujarat: The Surat Diamond Association’s recent exhibition has turned heads with its display of an 8-carat lab-grown diamond featuring an engraved image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Crafted from a 40-carat diamond by 20 artisans over a month, this masterpiece highlights Surat’s prowess in diamond craftsmanship and innovation.
PM Modi’s endorsement of lab-grown diamonds during his 2023 US visit underscores their importance in India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. Lab-grown diamonds, produced sustainably, are gaining popularity for their affordability and environmental benefits.
The diamond, created by SK Company, was prominently showcased at the Surat Diamond Association’s exhibition from July 12 to 14. This display not only celebrates artistry but also advocates for lab-grown diamonds as a sustainable alternative in the diamond industry.
This exhibition marks a significant step towards promoting India’s capabilities in producing high-quality lab-grown diamonds, blending tradition with modern technology.
