Strengthening access to professional gemstone and jewellery certification services, IIGJ Lab, a project of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), has inaugurated a new Collection Centre at the premises of the Jewellers Association of Jaipur in Johari Bazar.

The initiative is aimed at making internationally recognised gemstone, diamond, pearl and jewellery testing services more accessible to jewellers, gemstone traders, manufacturers, exporters and consumers in Jaipur—widely regarded as the world’s leading coloured gemstone trading and manufacturing hub.

The newly opened Collection Centre will serve as a dedicated submission point where members of the trade can conveniently deposit coloured gemstones, diamonds, pearls and jewellery articles for laboratory testing and certification without visiting the laboratory directly.

By simplifying the submission process, IIGJ Lab aims to save time, improve accessibility and strengthen confidence in independent gemmological testing and certification across the jewellery supply chain.

Speaking on the occasion, Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, GJEPC, said:

“We recognize the crucial role Jaipur plays in the global gemstone industry and the need for independent reports by experienced gemmologist using advance instruments is very important to grow India’s exports.”

Emphasising the importance of supporting businesses across the sector, Yogendra Garg, Regional Chairman, GJEPC, Jaipur, said:

“We understand importance of micro and small businesses to grow our industry. The Lab provides a wide range of services of international standards to inspire confidence amongst the buyers.”

Welcoming the launch, Raju Agarwal, President, Jaipur Jewellers Association, said:

“Jaipur is the Colourstone Capital of the world. We support IIGJ Lab’s efforts to be close to the industry by establishing collection centre in the premises of Jaipur Jewellers Association premises enabling small to large businesses to avail of the certification services.”

Jaipur has long been recognised as one of the world’s most important centres for coloured gemstone cutting, trading and jewellery manufacturing. Industry experts believe the new Collection Centre will help strengthen transparency, improve buyer confidence and make certification services more convenient for businesses of all sizes.

The initiative also supports India’s growing focus on quality assurance and internationally accepted certification standards, which are increasingly important for domestic trade as well as exports.

Ambe Express will continue to serve as the official logistics partner for IIGJ Lab, ensuring the secure transportation of gemstones and jewellery articles between the Collection Centre and the laboratory.
