Ever since its inception in 1999, Gem & Jewellery National Relief Foundation (GJNRF) has taken several initiatives to help and better the lives of the victims, who suffer as a result of natural calamities, besides giving aid and relief to other worthy causes.
GJNRF has provided relief and successfully completed several rehabilitation projects after the Kargil war, the Odisha cyclone, the Gujarat earthquake, Floods, Draught, Bomb blasts and Terror attacks. It has done significant relief work during covid-19 pandemic.
GJNRF has always focused on ensuring that the trade workforce is also well cared for. It has given education scholarships to nearly 40000 children of the trade artisans. It has provided free vaccination to approximately 9000 daily wage assorters and artisans during covid pandemic. GJNRF has also provided financial grants to families of 504 artisans who lost their lives in the pandemic.
At present, there is a recession in the diamond industry. This has affected earnings of the artisans and they are unable to bear their household and other day-to-day expenses.
To support the loyal workforce of the industry in this critical time, GJNRF has distributed approximately 7000 grocery kits with the financial support of GIA to the needy trade artisans in the various diamond cutting and processing centers of Gujarat, i.e. Bhavnagar, Surendranagar, Botad, Umarala, Vallabhipur, Palanpur, Deesa, etc. The distribution was carried out with the help of the local diamond Associations.
The above helping hand from GJNRF has been appreciated by all, in the industry.
