Gemological Science International (GSI), in collaboration with Bharat Ratnam Mega CFC, has conducted a specialised Gem Identification Masterclass, responding to the rising demand for coloured gemstone expertise in the Indian jewellery market.
As interest in coloured gemstones continues to grow across India, the initiative focuses on equipping jewellery professionals with practical knowledge and technical skills to navigate this increasingly complex category.
Focused Curriculum with Practical Training
The masterclass was designed for industry professionals seeking deeper expertise in gemstone identification and evaluation.
The curriculum covered key areas such as:
- Identification of coloured gemstones
- Differentiating natural stones, simulants, and synthetics
- Understanding advanced treatments
- Assessing geographic origin factors
- Evaluating gemstone value
In addition, participants received hands-on training using professional gemological instruments, reflecting GSI’s laboratory-driven approach to education.
