On March 26, 2025, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) held a crucial meeting at its Delhi Regional Office to discuss the much-anticipated Jewellery Park Cargo City Project near Terminal 3 of New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Antarpal Singh Sawhney, Regional Chairman – North, GJEPC, and brought together key stakeholders from both GJEPC and Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL).
The meeting saw the participation of prominent GJEPC representatives, including Mr. Anil Sankhwal, Ms. Renu Sharma, Mr. Ashok Seth, Mr. K.K. Duggal, Mr. Sanjeev Bhatia, and Mr. Sanjay Madaan. DIAL was represented by Mr. Munish Davessar, General Manager of Air Logistics, and Ms. Kranti Mishra, General Manager of Strategic Logistics.
The focal point of the meeting was the proposed development of a 50-acre Jewellery Park Cargo City, with DIAL presenting plans for the phased development of Cargo City 1 and Cargo City 2. This ambitious project is expected to significantly bolster the logistics and export capabilities of the Indian gem and jewellery industry by providing specialized infrastructure near the airport, facilitating smoother exports and streamlining logistics operations.
One of the key points discussed was the space requirements for GJEPC and its associated offices. Both GJEPC and DIAL emphasized the potential benefits of the Jewellery Park Cargo City in enhancing the efficiency of the gem and jewellery supply chain. To further understand the operational needs, the attendees conducted a site visit to the GJEPC Institute and Laboratory, offering valuable insights into the Council’s current facilities.
Both parties agreed to continue their discussions to refine the project’s framework, ensuring that it meets the logistical needs of the industry and aligns with the future goals of the gem and jewellery export sector.
