The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) participated in a closed-door outreach session in Paris hosted by UFBJOP, bringing Kimberley Process leadership into direct dialogue with leading luxury jewellery maisons. Conducted under the Chatham House Rule, the session addressed the KP’s role in sourcing integrity, brand risk mitigation and consumer trust — issues of growing strategic importance to the global luxury sector.

The panel brought together Ms. Feriel Zerouki, President, World Diamond Council (WDC); Mr. Stéphane Fischler, Former President, WDC; Mr. Anoop Mehta, Convenor, Diamond Panel, GJEPC; Mr. Ahmed Bin Sulayem, CEO, DMCC and Former KP Chair; and Mr. Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC and Deputy Advisor to the KP Chair.
Discussions centred on India’s 2026 KP Chairmanship priorities, framed around the “3Cs” — Credibility, Compliance and Confidence. Key areas of focus included strengthening certification integrity, addressing financial risks within the diamond pipeline and improving consumer communication around conflict-free sourcing.
The Paris engagement reflects GJEPC’s active effort to position India’s KP Chairmanship as a platform for substantive reform and deeper collaboration between the diamond trade and the global luxury industry.
