Bharat Diamond Bourse Welcomes Kimberley Process 2026 Delegates to Mumbai

Global KP delegates receive an exclusive tour of Bharat Diamond Bourse and IDTC, highlighting India’s growing leadership in the natural diamond ecosystem.

The visiting delegation attending the Kimberley Process (KP) Intersessional in Mumbai was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB), reinforcing the strategic importance of the Kimberley Process in safeguarding the global natural diamond trade.

The delegates were welcomed with a red-carpet reception and a performance by the official BDB Band before being taken on an exclusive tour of the Bharat Diamond Bourse facility, widely recognised as the world’s largest functional diamond exchange.

Addressing the visiting delegates, Mr. Mehul Shah, Vice President of Bharat Diamond Bourse, underlined the continued relevance of the Kimberley Process in promoting peace, protecting livelihoods and strengthening legitimate diamond trade across international markets.

He also highlighted the role of natural diamonds as a sustainable product category and described the Kimberley Process as one of the industry’s most progressive and globally recognised certification systems.

During his address, Mr. Shah invited mining economies to showcase their rough diamonds at the India Diamond Trading Centre (IDTC), located within the BDB complex. He noted that direct interaction between mining companies, manufacturers and the extensive buyer network operating within BDB could significantly reduce logistical costs and improve pricing efficiencies for rough diamond transactions.

Following the welcome ceremony, the delegates toured the BDB campus and visited the India Diamond Trading Centre, where they were introduced to the infrastructure, advanced security systems and operational ecosystem supporting India’s diamond trade.

The delegates were guided in groups by BDB committee members, who provided detailed insights into the facility’s functioning and the services available for global diamond trading and rough viewing activities.

The visit served as a strong showcase of India’s growing stature in the international diamond trade ecosystem and highlighted Bharat Diamond Bourse’s position as a key global hub for natural diamond commerce.
