American Gem Society Hosts Confluence: A Virtual Event on Natural and Lab-Grown Diamonds

The American Gem Society (AGS) presents Confluence 2024, a virtual event focused on natural and laboratory-grown diamonds. Confluence will be held on September 25, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. PT, with all sessions available on-demand from September 26 to December 31, 2024.

This event is designed to provide AGS members and industry professionals with insights into the latest trends and developments in the diamond industry, both natural and lab-grown.

Key Sessions at Confluence 2024:

  1. Laboratory-Grown Diamonds: Pricing, Supply, and Disclosure
    • Moderated by David Mazer, CG (Marks Jewelers), with expert panelists including Sarah Yood, Esq. (JVC), Abe Sherman (BIG), Stanley Zale (Hill & Co.), and Joel Hassler, CGA (Von Hasle Jewelers).
    • This session will cover pricing, supply chain challenges, and the importance of transparent disclosure in the lab-grown diamond market.
  2. The Importance of Diamond Screening: Challenges, Techniques, and Resources
    • Moderated by Wade Abel, CG (AGS), featuring panelists Raluca Anghel (Natural Diamond Council), Randy Lightfoot, CG (Mayflower Estate Buying & Consulting), and Guy Borenstein (Stuller).
    • Discussion will center on the latest screening techniques and technologies for accurate identification of laboratory-grown diamonds.
  3. The Incredible Story of Natural Diamonds
    • Presented by Dr. James Shigley (GIA) and John Cason, this session will delve into the geological history of natural diamonds and their unique formation process, offering insights that jewelers can share with customers.
