UNITED TO IGNITE: Bharat Diamond Bourse Shines Bright in Fire Service Week 2025

Every year, 14th to 20th April is marked as Fire Service Week across India, paying heartfelt tribute to the brave hearts who have laid down their lives in the line of duty—protecting people, property, and our cities from the fury of fire. This year’s theme, “UNITE to IGNITE: FIRE SAFE INDIA,” resonated with powerful energy as Maharashtra’s fire safety initiatives set the city ablaze with awareness, action, and admiration.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade and the Directorate of Maharashtra Fire Services led this vital week with a range of informative, educational, and hands-on activities to strengthen public and institutional preparedness.
Among the many institutions that stepped up with remarkable enthusiasm was the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB)— Diamond Centre of the World—Proving once again that Fire Safety is not just a Responsibility, but a Commitment deeply embedded in their Culture.
BDB’s Power-Packed Participation:
April 15, 2025 – Industrial & Public Building Fire Drill Competition:
The BDB DSFS team participated across multiple categories. In a show-stopping performance, the team broke its own 2022 record in the FOUR MEN TWO PART HYDRANT DRILL category, achieving a stunning 58.75 seconds—a new industry benchmark and a moment of immense pride.
April 16, 2025 – Knowledge Sessions That Ignited Minds:
- “One Level Up” by Mr. Rajesh Shirke, President – Training, FSAI, inspired attendees to elevate their safety standards.
- “Unite to Ignite – Fire Safe India” brought together a stellar panel decoding the latest Maharashtra Fire Act amendments, with key insights from:
- Shri Santosh Warick, Director – Maharashtra Fire Service & Chief Fire Officer and Fire Advisor, MIDC
- Shri Ravindra Ambulgekar, Chief Fire Officer – Mumbai Fire Brigade

A Historic First – BDB Brass Band in Government Ceremony:
In an unprecedented gesture, the Maharashtra Fire Service invited the BDB DSFS Brass Band to be part of the Drill and Fire Week Closure Ceremony—marking the first-ever participation of a private organization in this elite state function. The band added a regal touch, marching with dignity and pride, echoing unity and discipline.
