The Indian Association for Gold Excellence and Standards (IAGES) has marked a significant milestone in its journey to standardise India’s gold ecosystem, surpassing 100 accredited partners and establishing a robust network of over 550 accredited partner outlets across 29 states and more than 240 cities.
As a self-regulatory body, IAGES continues to position itself at the forefront of driving trust, transparency and uniformity across the gold value chain. Its expanding accreditation network now integrates refiners, bullion traders, manufacturers, assaying and hallmarking centres, retailers, and digital gold platforms under a unified framework of industry-defined best practices.
While retailers constitute a substantial share of accredited partners—reflecting strong adoption of standardised operating practices—the increasing participation from across segments signals rising industry confidence in IAGES’ accreditation model. With additional partners currently in the pipeline, the organisation’s expansion trajectory underscores a broader shift towards accountability and structured governance within the gold trade.
Kaushlendra Sinha, CEO, IAGES, stated, “IAGES today represents a truly pan-India network—from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Mumbai to Kolkata—highlighting the industry’s need for a unified code of conduct. While we are proud to have accredited leading national players, it is equally encouraging to see strong participation from small and medium enterprises, reflecting widespread industry acceptance.”
Accreditation under IAGES follows a rigorous evaluation process, conducted by independent third-party assessors, covering operational practices across the entire value chain. For jewellers, certification serves as a mark of verified processes, ethical conduct and operational excellence, strengthening consumer trust and loyalty. For consumers, it assures that gold has been sourced and manufactured in compliance with stringent standards of authenticity and integrity.
In parallel, IAGES has launched a nationwide consumer awareness initiative—‘Before you buy gold, #PehlaCheckIAGES’—aimed at encouraging buyers to verify retailer accreditation prior to purchase. The campaign reflects a strategic shift towards empowering consumers with informed decision-making, while reinforcing transparency across the marketplace.
With its rapidly expanding network and continued focus on standardisation, IAGES is playing a pivotal role in shaping a more credible, accountable and consumer-centric gold ecosystem in India.
