According to a study conducted by The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), The Indian wedding season is set to witness an unprecedented surge, with an estimated 48 lakh wedding ceremonies anticipated over the coming months, witnessing business worth Rs. 5.9 lakh Crores during this wedding season.
This boom is expected to fuel an extraordinary demand for mangalsutras, a quintessential part of Indian matrimonial customs.
With the growing preference for traditional jewellery among modern brides, industry experts foresee a significant increase in the sales of mangalsutras, as families gear up for elaborate wedding celebrations. As a key symbol of marital commitment, the mangalsutra remains an integral part of the bride’s adornment, blending cultural heritage with contemporary designs.

“This season, we anticipate a marked rise in the purchase of mangalsutras, owing to the sheer volume of weddings on the horizon,” said CHETAN THADESHWAR, MD SHRINGAR HOUSE OF MANGALSUTRA. “With India’s biggest stock of Mangalsutras for b2b market, We are prepared to meet this demand by offering a wide range of designs that cater to both traditional tastes and modern preferences.
Mangalsutras being a vital purchase for weddings, and with an average purchase estimation of 5 grams per ceremony, the total estimated sale of Mangalsutra in jewellery category, is expected to reach a staggering 24,000 kilograms during the upcoming season.
The Indian jewellery market is expected to thrive during this period, with wedding-related jewellery purchases contributing significantly to the overall industry’s growth.
