Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has once again highlighted the appeal of rare natural gemstones, choosing a bespoke Madagascar ruby wedding ring crafted by luxury jewellery brand QWEEN for his marriage to Gauri Spratt.

Unlike celebrity weddings known for grandeur and extravagance, the couple opted for an intimate ceremony at Aamir Khan’s Bandra residence, where the spotlight quietly shifted to a remarkable piece of jewellery that reflects exceptional craftsmanship, rarity and timeless design.

Aamir Khan Ruby Wedding Ring by QWEEN

At the heart of the ring is a cabochon-cut natural ruby sourced from Madagascar—one of the world’s most sought-after origins for fine rubies. According to QWEEN, fewer than 0.1% of natural rubies achieve this level of quality, making the gemstone exceptionally rare.

The ruby is set within an intricately designed raised gold gallery inspired by a royal coronet, giving the ring the appearance of a crown protecting its centre stone. Traditional milgrain detailing, handcrafted finishing and a distinctive bombé signet silhouette combine to create a design intended to resemble an heirloom rather than a contemporary jewellery piece.

Creating the ring required more than 256 hours of craftsmanship, involving 131 pairs of skilled hands, from gemstone selection and design development to stone setting and final finishing.

This is not the first bespoke creation commissioned by the couple. Earlier this year, ahead of QWEEN’s official launch, Gauri Spratt was seen wearing a rare Brazilian aquamarine ring gifted by Aamir Khan. The gemstone, surrounded by 40 natural diamonds, was also custom-created by QWEEN and represented less than 0.3% of aquamarines discovered worldwide.

Aamir Khan is also a strategic investor in QWEEN, a luxury jewellery brand backed by Rosy Blue and Kashikey. However, the company noted that his relationship with the brand extends beyond investment, with the actor becoming its first customer by privately commissioning jewellery for Gauri Spratt before the brand’s official launch.

Commenting on the creation, Amit Kumar, Co-founder & CEO, QWEEN, said:

“At QWEEN, we believe a jewel should hold the emotion of the person it is created for. This ruby ring was designed as a deeply personal piece for Gauri: rare, natural, and meaningful. To be chosen for a moment as intimate as a wedding is a very special expression of trust in the brand.”

The wedding ring also reflects the growing preference for natural coloured gemstones and bespoke jewellery among high-net-worth individuals seeking meaningful, one-of-a-kind creations. Industry experts believe celebrity choices often influence consumer interest, particularly in rare gemstones and handcrafted luxury jewellery.

With its emphasis on natural gemstones, transparent sourcing and artisanal craftsmanship, QWEEN positions the piece as more than a wedding ring—it is a celebration of rarity, heritage and personal expression.
