Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) observed the 25th anniversary of the Kargil War with a solemn and impactful event that blended remembrance with forward-thinking dialogues. The cornerstone of the commemoration was a knowledge conclave titled “Unity in Adversity: Building a Resilient Future,” held on July 26, 2024, at the BDB premises in Mumbai.
The day commenced with a poignant wreath-laying ceremony to honor the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Kargil War. Mr. Bhushan Gagrani IAS, Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, presided over the ceremony, underscoring the enduring spirit of courage and unity exemplified by the Kargil heroes.
The subsequent conclave brought together eminent experts and key stakeholders from the realms of security, risk, and disaster management to delve into the critical role of unity in forging a robust and resilient future. Participants engaged in insightful discussions on strategies to overcome challenges and strengthen collective resolve, emphasizing the power of collaboration.
Mr. Anoop Mehta, President of Bharat Diamond Bourse, highlighted the significance of infrastructure in building resilience. He stated, “We are privileged to host Mr. Gagrani and our distinguished guests. BDB has always prioritized infrastructure development, and our partnership with MMRDA has been instrumental in this endeavor. Our pioneering rainwater harvesting system, implemented since 1991, is a testament to our forward-thinking approach. Today, our facility can store a substantial 20 million liters of water, contributing to a 25% reduction in our water consumption during the monsoon.”
Mr. Mehul Shah, Vice President of BDB aptly summarized the event’s significance, stating, “Reflecting upon the selfless sacrifices of our soldiers and their unwavering spirit of resilience and unity inspires us to create a stronger future. On this day of 25th July in 2005, Mumbai was in floods & about 1095 people died. We also pay tribute to all the Mumbaikars who lost their lives. This was the biggest lesson for us & we need to learn & equipped all of us to understand disaster management. BDB is the first example of it with fire security, disaster management, in-house medical facility, fire brigade, and ambulance.”
Mr. Gagrani commended BDB for its cutting-edge infrastructure and advanced systems, emphasizing their contribution to Mumbai’s global stature. He underscored the need for incorporating rainwater harvesting in new buildings to optimize resource utilization.
Bharat Diamond Bourse is proud to have the MCGM Commissioner Mr. Bhushan Gagrani at our complex & paying tribute to our fallen heroes and fostering meaningful dialogue on building a resilient and united nation.
